Urinary tract infections are a serious health problem affecting millions of people each year. The urinary tract is the body’s filtering system for removal of liquid wastes. Because we have a shorter urinary tract, women are especially susceptible to bacteria that may invade the urinary tract and multiply resulting in infection known as a urinary tract infection, or UTI.
Symptoms of Urine infection in Men
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common type of infection that occurs in the urinary tract. The symptoms of a UTI include:
- a frequent urge to urinate and a painful
- inability to fully empty bladder
- possible blood in urine
- burning feeling in the area of the bladder or urethra during urination
- soreness in lower abdomen, back, or sides
- Discomfort or pressure in the lower abdomen
- The abdomen can feel bloated.
Symptoms of Urine infection in Women
- The urine often has a strong smell, looks cloudy, or contains blood.
- Pain in your lower abdomen.
- foul smelling or bloody urine
- vomiting, nausea and fever
- Pain in the backside of your waist
- Changes in the color and texture of the skin
- Leaking a little urine
- Often women feel an uncomfortable pressure above the pubic bone
Symptoms of Urine infection in Children
Signs and symptoms of UTIs vary depending on the child’s age and on which part of the urinary tract is infected. In younger children and infants, the symptoms may be very general.
- A persistent high fever of otherwise unknown cause, particularly if it is accompanied by signs of feeding problems and debility, such as listlessness and fatigue.
- Painful frequent and foul smelling urine.
- Cloudy urine.
- wetting problems, even though the child is toilet taught.
- Vomiting and abdominal pain.
- low back pain or abdominal pain in the area of the bladder (generally below the navel).
