Applying the Lipstick
You should apply your lipstick in the correct way.
- First, you should draw an outline around your lips with a lip liner. Start drawing the line from the center of your upper lip and extend the line to the outer corner of your lips.
- The lip liner should match the shade of your lipstick.
- Next, apply the lipstick all over your lips. Spread the lip color in an even layer. Press a tissue paper to your lips to remove excesses.
- Applying a thin coat of foundation or loose powder to your lips before applying the lipstick, ensures greater staying power.
- You can use a lip brush to apply the lip color to your lips.
Choosing the Lip Color
Now, comes the most important part, i.e. choosing the shade of your lipstick. Your lip color must complement your skin tone.
- If you have light blonde hair, wine, cappuccino, berry and mauve should be your ideal shades.
- Cinnamon, terracotta and brownish reds are the perfect lip colors for brunettes.
- People with golden blonde hair should opt for lipsticks in shades of apricot, coral and peach.
- Mute colors like bronze, purple or brown are the perfect choice for big lips.
- Dark shades of lip color are suited for small lips.
- Lipsticks in shades of peach brown, cinnamon and terracotta are ideally suited for those with red hair.
- If you have an olive skin tone, you should choose lipsticks in shades of terracotta, peach and brown.
- For fair skin, the lipstick colors that are apt are wine red color, shades of plum, light brown color, various shades of pin and even pink shades with blue undertones.
- For dark complexion, the lipstick colors that you should pick up are dark red colors, deep plum color, various shades of brown and berry color.
- If you have got a tanned skin you can enhance your looks with light pink lipstick as well apart from shades of brown and maroon.
- If you have yellowish skin you can opt for the brown shades that have a reddish undertone to it or the dark pink color or the shades of berry color.
- Here is an advice - wear dark color lipstick at night time and put on light color lipsticks at day time
